European Roulette

Roulette is one of the most popular games played in Casinos and is also one of the most popular online casino games as well. Roulette translated literally means "small wheel".

Roulette is fairly unique amongst modern table games in that it uses a mechanical device as the key element of the game. That of course is the Roulette wheel, which is mounted on one end of the table.

A European Roulette wheel contains thirty-seven colored slots. The slots are numbered from 0 to 36. 18 of the slots are red, 18 are black and one of them, the 0 is green.

The object of Roulette is to predict the slot that the ball will land in.

Bets in European Roulette are placed on an area of the table marked with a pattern of boxes and numbers.

A Straight Up bet is when you place a chip on any single number which can include zero (0). The chip should lie exactly on one number.

A Split Bet is when you place a chip on two adjacent numbers, on the line between two numbers.

A Street Bet is a bet that covers three numbers. The position of the chip is left outer line of the roulette table near the corresponding row of three numbers.

A Corner Bet is a bet that covers four numbers. Each of which is adjacent to the other two, in other words they are located in a square. The position of the chip is on the cross of the lines dividing these four numbers.

A Line Bet is a bet that covers two Street bets. The line bet covers six different numbers in two rows each of which has three numbers.  For example: 4, 5, 6 + 7, 8, 9. The position of the chip is on the cross of the left outer line of the roulette table, and the line, dividing two rows, constituting "streets".

A Column Bet is on the shortest side of the roulette table were there are three fields, marked as "2 to 1". Covering one of these fields with a chip, you can make a bet on all twelve fields, located over the covered field. The zero is not covered by a column bet.

A Dozen Bet is a bet on a group consisting of twelve numbers. A chip is placed on one of the fields marked as "1st 12", "2nd 12" or "3rd 12". Each group contains numbers from 1 to 12, from 13 to 24, from 25 to 36.

A Red/Black, Even/Odd, 1 to 18/19 to 36 Bet is a bet placed on one of the six boxes on the left, longer side of the table. A half of roulette numbers (18 numbers) corresponds to each bet, as all the numbers are divided into Red and Black, Even and Odd, Low (1-18) and High (19-36). The zero is not covered by any of these boxes.

How to Play European Roulette

There are two basic steps to follow to play a game of European Roulette in an online casino.

First use your mouse to place chips on individual numbers and the borders shared by two or four numbers. You can also bet on whether the number will be odd, even, black, red, low and/or high, by placing outside bets. Provided you have enough money and do not exceed table limits, you place any number of different bets.

The COIN buttons allows you to adjust the size of your wager. If you are using a coin size of 1 then each mouse click will only add or remove 1 from the current pile of chips on the table.

Once you have placed your bets press the SPIN button to start the game. The SPIN button will only work if there is a bet on the table. The roulette wheel will spin and the ball will be placed on the wheel. The ball will eventually drop into one of the numbered slots on the wheel. If the number falls within the range of any one of your bets, you win!

The REBET button allows you to SPIN again with the bets already on the table.

The CLEAR button removes all chips from the table.
