Caribbean Stud Poker

How to Play Caribbean Holdem Poker

Caribbean Stud is a five card poker game that is played with one 52 card deck. Caribbean Stud is played against the dealer. The game is started with you placing a bet. This initial bet is called the Ante. Once you have placed the Ante you will be dealt five cards face up. The dealer will be also be dealt five cards. However, four of the dealers cards are dealt face down and one card is dealt face up.

You need to look at the dealers face up card and decide if you would like to continue.

If you do not think you can beat the dealer and choose to fold, you will lose your Ante bet. If you think that you can beat the dealer you must then Raise.

Your Raise will be double the Ante. For example, if your Ante was $5 your Raise will be $10.

After you have selected to Raise the dealers cards will be turned over. The dealers hand must "qualify". This means that the dealer must at least have an Ace and a King. If the dealer does not have at least an Ace and a King and does not qualify you win your Ante bet. Your Raise bet is returned to you. It is considered a push.

If the dealer does qualify and you beat the dealers hand you win both the Ante bet and the Raise bet. The Ante bet is always paid 1:1. However, the Raise bet is paid out on how good your hand is. The payout table below shows the payout for each hand that you can win with.

If the Dealer beats your hand, you lose both your Ante and your Raise bet. If the dealer has the same exact hand that you have then the next highest card in the hands will determine if you or the dealer is the winner.

Progressive Jackpot
Caribbean Stud also offers a chance to win a Progressive Jackpot. The Progressive Jackpot is a "side bet". You can win the Progressive Jackpot or a portion of the Progressive Jackpot whether the dealers hand qualifies or not. For example if you were dealt a full house but the dealers hand did not qualify you only win your Ante bet. But if you also placed a side bet on the Progressive Jackpot you would win $100 from the Progressive Jackpot.

If the dealers hand did qualify, you would win your Ante bet, the Raise bet which for a full house pays 7:1 and a $100 bet from the progressive jackpot!
